This site has a mission. It is a journey to gain self-acceptance and then to go beyond that in celebration of all the little bits and pieces of me and you. There are parts of myself that I’ve slowly grown to love, such as my curiosity and passion for learning new things. There are also parts of me that need improvement, so as I find solutions for myself, I use this space to share them with you.
My name is Melissa Ruppert Olivero and I am a writer and blogger. Little Bits and Pieces is a lifestyle blog that focuses on finding successes both as a mother and a woman with ADHD, depression and anxiety issues. Growing up, I dealt with early sexualization and abusive situations. My past does make its way into the topic list. So, while there are many family friendly posts about working with children and parenting in general, please note that the blog as a whole is meant for adults.
You can see some of those posts here:
- Finding Forgiveness for Dating Violence
- How To Talk To Your Children About Sexual Abuse
- What To Do When You Feel Suicidal
- How To Handle A Loved One With Depression
- The Shame of Depression
- I Don’t Believe You – Dealing With Invisible Illness
If you are interested in our family reviewing a product or service, here is some basic information:
- I am 45. (Shhh! That’s between you and me.)
- My wonderful husband and I live in South Florida with our three children.
- Our oldest son is 12 and our boy/girl twins are 8. They are really amazing and a lot of fun to be around.
- For more PR information, please see my Disclosure page.
As you might imagine, I struggle with being organized so that is a huge blogging topic. Our household binder continues to be worked on while our Family Command Center has been our best organizational tool EVER. Sprinkled in between those are pieces on digital art, Incredimail stationery, photography, scrap-booking, mental health, crafting, and reviews on my favorite products, books, and television shows.
Most of all, my biggest purpose in writing here is to help make your life easier in some small way.
In case you are extra curious, my biggest pet peeves are mean people and greed. I love all shades of green, you can occasionally streaks of pink in my hair and I am much more shy in person than I am online.
Please stay in touch!

I think that covers it for now. May your day be filled with light and laughter and love!
