I thought about writing something yesterday, but I decided to wait until today and start the year fresh.
Last year, instead of a bunch of resolutions that I would never follow through on, I chose the word *Forgiveness*. I worked really hard at this. I did not realize how much anger I had buried inside me towards people from my past. And perhaps one or two people in my current life. *grins* I am very proud of the internal goals that I had achieved. Even though I am not yet able to include myself in my forgiveness journey (I’ll save that for another year), I found a way to give myself permission to be angry. I am still working on figuring out how to stand up for myself though.
This year I am taking a lighter path and my word is
You could blame Pinterest or my ever-growing need to learn EVERYTHING, but these next 12 months will be all about putting my creativity (and therefore fun) into my life.
I got two wonderful books for Christmas: Sewing School and The Journal Junkies Workshop.
Sewing School (basic hand sewing) was written at a 2nd grade level so I’m hoping I can handle it. And I became so addicted looking at art journal pages on the internet, I decided to give it a go myself.
I signed up for a Wilton Basic Decorating session this month and a basic sewing class through JoAnn’s Fabrics & Crafts. These are already paid for so I cannot back out. *grins*
A friend’s mom has also agreed to try to teach my sister and I how to knit!!!
I cannot express how excited I am about all of these new adventures. One of the best ones of all is that I joined a new forum (message board) for creative people (crafts, digital art, writing, photography, etc) at Sanaa Roho which means Art & Spirit. Come check it out.
I continue to put together my Home Management binder! I am trying to be very creative with it so I look forward to using it. I’ll post about it soon.
So, this is how I am welcoming 2013.
Did you pick a word for the New Year?
xoxo ~ Melissa
