Love Bubbles IncrediMail Stationery

I’ve been playing around with Paint Shop Pro since the 1990s. It made for incredible art therapy as I learned how the program worked. I then moved on to creating signature tags using other people’s artwork, then learning to do special effects with fonts to create more original works. I finally began to learn how to draw and paint on my own and I loved it. I created a couple of paintings with a focus on florals. During all of this, a free email program came out called IncrediMail. The community was very excited! If you paid for the Pro version, it came with the Letter Creator and you could create your own email stationery. This was a huge passion of mine for several years.

I have to admit that at first, I didn’t understand copyright laws and I would use whatever artwork I liked at the time. As the copyright awareness began, I read and studied the law for a long time. Once I was satisfied with a certain level of understanding, I started teaching a free, online class on Yahoo with a couple of other women. We learned about emailing artists for permissions and now, most artists post their Terms Of Use (TOS) on their sites. From then on, I only used my own art or work that I had permission to use when I created IncrediMail Letters.

Since it is free, I hope you will take advantage and make sending emails more fun by downloading the IM program.

If you already have it, that’s wonderful! I just created my first stat in probably a year or so and I’ll eventually share it all. Hope you like it!

Is Occupy Wall Street a Subversive Movement?

Recently, I was watching Mona Lisa Smiles on cable. If you aren’t familiar with the storyline, it is set in the 1950s at Wellesley College (an all girl’s university). An art history professor joins them played by Julia Roberts. She is different from the rest of the faculty and for some of the students, she is their first exposure to a woman who believed that marriage was not a woman’s only goal in life. They called her subversive. That, Continue Reading…

Todays Finds ~ Nov. 16

When I started Mel’s Attic (my old site) again, one of the things I enjoyed doing was a semi-daily post that covered any goodies I found on the net or what fun I found in my mailbox that day. This would include coupons to print, freebies ordered, contests entered and any good deals that I read about. Some of these will be posted directly to my Facebook Page, if I think there is a time issue on the deal, but any and all Continue Reading…

Getting Political In My Old Age

One of the great things about giving yourself permission to *be yourself* is that you push beyond the fear that you may not be liked for having different opinions than those around you. I like to think of myself as an Independent in my voting practices and in my thinking, but I am usually viewed as a Liberal (with that negative connotation people can spin onto the word). Or even as a dreaded Socialist. I do not think I am either. Continue Reading…

My Little Soldier ~ Happy Veteran's Day

I wrote this poem in 1980… meaning I was about 12 years old. I have no idea how these thoughts came to my head… I knew nothing of war or soldiers.  It’s not a happy poem nor a very good one (LOL) but I thought I would share anyway. Thank you to every veteran that made it possible for today to be today.
